The Aurora Project had its beginnings in the Brookside Inn, where Walt Ranalli, Michele Moure and Alice Penzo developed plans for an artists’ residency program based in the cottages of the former tourist accommodations.
The project was incorporated in 2001 and acquired the properties and performed historic preservation. However, due to the overhead and staffing costs of a residency project, that use of the properties has been postponed and the focus of the all-volunteer board has been to offer programming in the project’s General Store Gallery.
